Application Architect

Scope of Position:   This position will be responsible for the detailed design and architecture for a web based real time product.  The position is likely to grow into a technical leadership position over time setting the technical and feature direction of the product.  This position will work closely with product management and marketing and well as the existing development teams to insure product line consistency and integration into the product portfolio.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities includes high level specifications, architectural decomposition, interfaces definition and subsystem design with specific attention to scalability and availability.  Coordination of the technical designs of the various subsystems will also be required.  Extensive work in the areas of web technology, distributed system design and database design will be part of the project. 

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of the HTTP protocol – at least 5 years
• Substantial knowledge of Java with emphasis on HTTP server and client technology – at least 7 years
• Strong experience in database technology and at least one DB product (MySQL or Oracle) – at least 5 years
• Strong knowledge of the Linux environment – at least 5 years
• Strong understand of browser technology and preferably implementation – at least 3 years
• Experience in distributed system development with emphasis on distributed development – at least 5 years
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills
